LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana — The main runway at Lake Charles Regional Airport reopened this week after almost three months and $2.4 million worth of maintenance.
Airport officials tell the American Press (http://bit.ly/cseYHv ) the scope of the rehabilitation project, which was funded by the state, removed and replaced 6 percent of the concrete pavement.
Airport Executive Director Heath Allen said repairs will keep the runway from being shut down for longer periods of time.
He says crews, which worked seven days a week, also removed airplane-tire rubber deposits that had built up.
