There’s more than 30 different airports here in the Mountain State. They contribute $100,000s to the economy every year; therefore, Governor Tomblin declared this month General Aviation Month.
According to North Central West Virginia Airport Interim Director Rick Rock, the airport generates $394 million towards economic impact yearly. hundreds of people work at the airport and even more fly in and out everyday for business. he believes that’s one of the reasons local airports are so important.
the airport just finished it’s runway project which makes that runway the longest commercial one in the state. they’re looking at options for other projects in the future
