ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Gov. Sean Parnell has proclaimed September 2012 as general aviation appreciation month in recognition of aviation’s significance in Alaska.
A press release from the state Department of Transportation says 82 percent of the state’s communities are not connected to a road system and rely on aircraft.
Officials say aviation in Alaska generates 47,000 jobs and $3.5 billion in annual economic impact.
