Alaska Air Group Inc. Thursday released the operational results for the month of August 2012 for its units, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, and on a combined basis.
On a combined basis, Air Group reported a 8.1 percent growth in traffic on an 7.4 percent increase in capacity during the month of August 2012 in comparison with the corresponding period last year, which resulted in a 0.6-point rise in load factor to 88.9 percent. These statistics include flights operated by Alaska and those under capacity purchase agreements, including Horizon, SkyWest and PenAir.
Air Group’s traffic, measured in revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, improved to 2.27 billion in August from 2.10 billion reported for the same period last year. Available seat miles or ASMs totaled 2.56 billion with passenger load factor of 89.3% for the recent month.
