MANZANITA — A 16-year-old boy was rescued from a cliff near Manzanita by the Coast Guard Friday night.
The Coast Guard was called at 6:20 p.m. Friday and quickly rescued the boy, who was found clinging to a rock face on the cliff side of the south end of Smuggler Cove in Oswald West State Park, according to a Coast Guard release.
The helicopter crew took off from Air Station Astoria and lowered a rescue swimmer to the boy. Strapped together, the two were lowered to a beach in Smuggler Cove.
The boy had some minor scratches but no major injuries are reported, said Petty Officer Nate Littlejohn.
