JACKSON, Miss. — Airport improvement projects in Mississippi will receive more than $9.7 million in Federal Aviation Administration funding.
The announcement was made Wednesday by Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss.
Cochran said the announcements came after final congressional approval to legislation that reauthorized federal aviation programs such as the AIP, the Small Community Air Service Development Program and the Essential Air Service program.
The Mississippi projects are:
– Hattiesburg received $750,000 to replace a drainage culvert beneath the runway at Chain Municipal Airport and for grading of areas adjacent to the runway.
– Lumberton received $180,000 for fencing around I.H. Bass Jr. Memorial Airport.
– Cleveland received $150,000 for a runway extension including paving and lighting at Cleveland Municipal Airport.
– Hancock County received $855,000 to construct an apron for a new terminal building at Stennis International Airport.
– Newton received $219,600 for construction of a terminal building at James H. Easom Field.
– Okolona received $150,097 for construction of a taxiway and fencing at Okolona Municipal-Richard Stovall Field.
– Clarksdale-Coahoma County Airport Board received $55,030 for the design of a parallel taxiway at Fletcher Field.
– Magee received $165,500 to acquire land for approach clearing to Magee Municipal Airport.
– Clarke County received $122,500 to acquire land for approach clearing to Clarke County Airport.
– Mississippi Department of Transportation received $400,000 to update the state’s air service system plan.
– McComb received $186,886 to acquire land for approaches and rehabilitate an apron at McComb/Pike County/John E Lewis Field.
– Lexington received $76,500 for land acquisition for erosion control and add wildlife fencing at C.A. Moore Airport.
– Calhoun County received $335,952 to improve an access road and rehabilitate a runway at Calhoun County Airport.
– Natchez-Adams County Airport Board received $120,420 to rehabilitate a runway at Hardy-Anders Field Natchez-Adams County Airport.
– Hancock County received $855,000 for construction of an apron for a new terminal building at Stennis International Airport.
– Louisville received $122,670 for construction of a taxiway and terminal building at Louisville Winston County Airport.
– Hollandale received $103,500 for installation of a visual guidance system at Hollandale Municipal Airport.
– Madison received $333,824 for perimeter fencing and to update a master plan study for Bruce Campbell Field Airport.
– Wiggins-Stone County Airport Board received $379,659 to improve a runway safety area at Dean Griffin Memorial Airport.
– Philadelphia received $302,850 to rehabilitate an apron and runway at Philadelphia Municipal Airport.
– Ripley and Tippah County received $191,114 to rehabilitate an apron and runway at Ripley Airport.
– Water Valley Airport Board received $305,239 to construct a building and taxiway at Water Valley Municipal Airport.
– Grenada received $150,000 to rehabilitate an apron at Grenada Municipal Airport.
