The Aviation Association of Indiana and Conexus Indiana recently partnered with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to release a new report outlining the economic benefits of both commercial and general aviation airports for Indiana. The 24-page report outlines the number of jobs, payroll, and total economic impact for the state’s 69 public-use airports, and was collected through surveys of airports and their users in 2011 and 2012. Across Indiana, general aviation generates over $5.88 billion in economic activity, supporting over 32,000 jobs annually. Overall, the state’s aviation sector contributes $14.1 billion annually, supporting more than 69,000 jobs.
