Eau Claire, Wisconsin (Press Release) – Total airline passengers at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport increased 9% in 2011. A total of 37,479 passengers enplaned and deplaned in 2011 compared to 34,359 in 2010. This annual passenger increase comes on the heels of a monthly passenger traffic increase of 21% for December 2011 versus December 2010. United Express also recorded a 100% completion factor or zero canceled flights arriving or departing the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport in December.
Airport Manager Charity Speich attributes the continued increases in passenger traffic to the change of airline service to United Express all jet service to the Chippewa Valley introduced in March 2010 with flights to Chicago O’Hare and beyond. Speich says, “Travelers in and out of the Chippewa Valley continue to check local when making their travel decisions and are often pleased with what they find.”
Construction on the second phase of the terminal development project also wrapped up in 2011. This final phase of terminal development at the Airport added a passenger boarding bridge, baggage carousel, and improved the energy efficiency of the entire terminal building.
The Airport also finished the year with 24,906 total aircraft operations or aircraft takeoffs and landings.
