The Kansas Department of Commerce issued the following news release:
Gov. Sam Brownback will hold his first Economic Summit focused on the aviation industry on April 25 in Wichita. This major summit will bring together in one place more than 160 representatives from the aviation manufacturing and aerospace industries, as well as colleges and universities and community leaders from the Wichita area, to share ideas and plan for the future of this vital industry in Kansas.
Brownback is hosting a series of summits focused on growing the Kansas economy and creating jobs. His administration will develop ideas coming from the aviation summit into an action plan for the industry.
WHAT: “Kansas Aviation: Soaring into the Future” – Economic Summit focused on the aviation industry.
WHEN/WHERE: 8:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m. Monday, April 25, at the National Center for Aviation Training, 4004 N. Webb Road, Wichita, Kan. 67226. Remarks by Brownback and presentations by select industry representatives will begin at 8:30 a.m. A roundtable discussion, and question and answer session will begin at 10:15 a.m.
WHO: Making presentations will be David Coleal, vice president and general manager of Learjet; Jeff Turner, chief executive officer of Spirit AeroSystems; Lynn Nichols, president of Yingling Aviation; Don McGinty, owner and president of McGinty Machine and Steve Wade, vice president and general manager of Boeing Defense-Space and Security. They will be joined by additional roundtable participants from Cessna, Hawker Beechcraft, Airbus Americas Engineering, Garmin and many, many others. In addition to Brownback, Commerce Secretary Pat George, Revenue Secretary Nick Jordan, and Transportation Secretary Deb Miller will attend.
